Aerosols
Aerosols can be recycled in your green kerbside box or at a Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre. Aerosols should be completely used.
Bicycles
Your old bicycles will be taken by the Reuse area at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre if they are in good condition. If they are beyond repair, place in the scrap metal skip.
Catalogues
Catalogues can be recycled in your blue kerbside box or recycling bag, or at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Books
Books can be taken to local charity shops, or to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre where they can be placed in the reuse area.
Foil
Clean Foil (no food residue) can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre, for residents of Douglas and Braddan use the green kerbside box. Foil items include takeaway trays, pie and quiche cases and oven ready meals.
Aluminium
Cans can be recycled at Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre, for resident of Douglas cans can be placed in a Green Kerbside box.
Household items such as saucepans that are still in good condition can be reused at any local charity shop for example, or taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Building waste
Small amounts of building waste can be disposed of at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre. Building waste should not be placed in a household bin.
Batteries
Dry cell batteries can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre or at battery recycling points provided by many major retailers. Batteries should not be placed in a household bin.
Domestic appliances
Domestic appliances can be taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Clothing and textiles
Items can be taken to any local Charity Shop or the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Steel
Please place steel in your Green kerbside box, or take to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Fridges
Fridges can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre (charges apply).
Lamps and bulbs
These can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre for a small charge. Lamps and bulbs should not be placed in a household bin.
Plastic
PET 1, PE-HD 02 and PP 5 plastics (as shown by symbol on packaging). This includes drinks bottles, shampoo bottles, mouthwash bottles, salad dressing bottles medicine bottles, milk jugs, juice containers etc. available using the Kerbside Collection green box and at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre. Please do not put any other types of plastics in your kerbside bin as this counts as contamination.
Furniture
Furniture can be taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre and placed in the reuse area. If it is beyond repair or cannot be reused please place in the relevant disposal skip.
Computer Equipment, dehumidifiers, TVS and Monitors
Can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre (charges apply).
Envelopes
White envelopes can be placed in your blue kerbside box or recycling bag.
Glass
Facilities for this can be found at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre, for Douglas and Braddan residents please place in a Green kerbside box.
Paper
Paper can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre, or for Douglas and Braddan residents in your blue kerbside box or recycling bag.
Garden Waste
Greenwaste including leaves, flowers, grass and weeds, tree bark and pruned branches, clippings and twigs, home grown fruit or vegetables, can be taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Brown Cardboard
Brown Cardboard can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre, for Douglas and Braddan residents please place in the blue kerbside box or recycling bag
Scrap Metal
Scrap metal should be taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Wood
Wood can be recycled at the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Plasterboard
Small amounts can be taken to the Eastern Household Waste Recycling Centre. Plasterboard must be no bigger than a quarter sheet and a maximum of 6 bags per week.
